The Annapurna Tilicho Lake Trek is best during spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November) when the weather is most stable for trekking. In spring, the lower trails up to Chame (2,670 M) are filled with blooming rhododendrons, while higher areas beyond Manang (3,540 M) have moderate temperatures of 0 °C to 15 °C. At this time, the melting snow makes crossing Thorong La Pass (5,416 M) safer and easier, so you can enjoy the high pass with less risk.
Similarly, in autumn, the post-monsoon air is crisp and clear. This allows you sharp and clear views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Daytime temperatures around Pisang (3,200 M) are comfortable at 10-18 °C, though they can drop to -10 °C at Tilicho Base Camp (4,150 M) after sunset. These conditions make it easier to reach Tilicho Lake and cross the high pass successfully.
However, trekking outside these seasons is also possible for those who want fewer crowds. In winter (December – February), temperatures at Tilicho Lake can drop to -20 °C, and the lake may freeze. That aside, the heavy snow beyond Khangsar can make the trail difficult, requiring crampons and a guide. Then, during the monsoon (June – August), the lower valleys are lush and full of waterfalls, but trails can be slippery, and leeches are common. Even so, past Tal (1,700 M), the weather becomes drier, and trekking is more manageable as you move higher into the Annapurna region.
