Everest two passes trek is an alternative trekking trail in the Everest region trekking route in Nepal. But through this route, you can see all the mountains, lakes, and glaciers of Everest trekking.

Everest’s two passes trek led from the high mountain airport Lukla 2,840m to the Sherpa capital Namche Bazaar, Khumbu glacier from Mt. Everest then can see Mount Everest, Mt. Makalu, Cho Oyu, Amadablam, Pumori, Lhotse, Nuptse and many other peaks around Everest two passes trekking route then we cross Chola pass 5,368m to Gokyo lake, Gokyo Ri then again climb up to Renjo la pass 5,360m then trek descending to Lumde, Thame and Namche Bazaar to Lukla. During our last stay in Lukla the next morning we flew back to Kathmandu as per our flight schedule.

After trekking down to Lumde, Thame, and Namche Bazaar, the journey concludes in Lukla, where you can take one last look at the stunning mountain views. The following day, you will fly back to Kathmandu, bringing your incredible journey to a close.

The Everest Two Passes Trek is an excellent opportunity for trekkers to experience a unique adventure in the Everest region. The flights to Lukla depart from Ramechhap in the busy season and from Kathmandu in the off-season. Further information on this can be found here (Lukla flights). After meeting our porters in Lukla, we will go north to Chablung (2,700m). Here, a suspension bridge built in the local manner will carry us over the Tharo Kosi River.
The most challenging of the so-called “trekking peaks,” Kusum Kangru (6,367m), is visible just beyond the bridge. Once we traverse a hill marked with painted mani stones and cross the Dudh Kosi river, the trail climbs slightly beyond the Tharo Kosi towards Ghat (2,590m). From there, it crosses a bridge to our overnight resort in Phakding, which takes three hours.

Kathmandu

Our team will meet you when you arrive at the Kathmandu International Airport and take you to your Kathmandu hotel. Depending on when you arrive, you might choose to spend your spare time shopping, seeing local cultural attractions, or just relaxing at the hotel.

Day01

Kathmandu - Lukla to Phakding 2,640m/ 2-4 hours walk

Our staff will come to get you early in the morning and drive you to the airport, where you will board a 35-minute flight to Lukla.
The flights to Lukla depart from Ramechhap in the busy season and from Kathmandu in the off-season.

Further information on this can be found here (Lukla flights). After meeting our porters in Lukla, we will go north to Chablung (2,700m). Here, a suspension bridge built locally will carry us over the Tharo Kosi River.

Day02

Phakding - Monju to Namche Bazaar 3,440m/7-8 hours walk

We stay on the west side of the Dudh Kosi River and follow its valley from Phakding. We ascended sharply above a stony ridge in the direction of Benkar (2,710m). The path stays beside the river after this. Along this section of the trail, settlements are dotted with stunning magnolia, giant fir, and rhododendron forests.

This section of the route is particularly best to walk in the early autumn and late spring, thanks to the abundance of flowers. After crossing the Kyashar Khola River, we ascend to Monjo (2,840m) by climbing out of the valley. Then to Namche Bazaar.

Day03

Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar

It’s crucial to acclimate before moving forward. We’re going to hike via the villages of Khunde and Khumjung today. After a strenuous hour-long climb to the Syangboche airstrip (3,790m), we make our way gradually uphill toward Khunde, passed by a multitude of chorten (stone Buddhist monuments).

We head east on the trail from Khunde to Khumjung, the biggest hamlet in Khumbu, which is situated at the base of the holy peak Khumbila. We will take a difficult switchbacking track that descends to Chhorkung (3,540m) after having lunch here. It’s a short walk (5 hours) back to Namche Bazaar from here.

Day04

Namche bazaar - Phungi Tanka to Tengboche 3,860m/5-6 hours walk

Today’s route to Tengboche winds through side valleys, with a few short ascents and descents, to the tea shops of Kenjoma. Just before a cluster of main stones, the track from Khumjung reunites with the trail. From this hike, there are fantastic views of both Ama Dablam and Everest.

We go by Sanasa, a little town, from where the trail descends to Phunki Thanga (3,250m). From this point, the trail follows the slope of a hill and climbs steeply through trees and around Mani stones to the saddle where Tengboche Monastery is located at 3,870 meters.

Day05

Tengboche - Pangboche to Dingboche 4,410m/ 5-6 hours walk

Today we follow the signposted path from Tengboche that runs northeast and descends gradually to the Imja Khola River. It’s a pleasant trek through some really old forests.

Once you cross the river, progressively ascend to Pangboche (3,985 meters), the town where Khumbu’s oldest monastery is located. It takes around three hours to get from Tengboche to Pangboche, so the village is a perfect place to stop for lunch.

Acclimatization Day and the visit to Chhukum valley.

Day07

Dingboche - Thukla to Dzonglha 4,830m/5-6 hours walk

Setting off from Dingboche, trekkers embark on an enchanting journey closer to Dzonglha via Thukla, traversing the rugged terrain of the Khumbu region. As they ascend through Thukla, decorated with memorial stupas honoring climbers, the path unfolds with panoramic vistas of the encircling Himalayan peaks, including the iconic Ama Dablam.

Amidst the dramatic panorama, trekkers navigate through rocky paths and glacial streams, immersing themselves within the raw splendor of the high-altitude barren region.

Upon accomplishing Dzonglha at an elevation of 4,830 meters, trekkers are greeted with the aid of the tranquility of this faraway mountain outpost, surrounded by towering peaks and alpine vistas, supplying a serene haven amidst the majesty of the Everest area.

Day08

Dzonglha - Chola Pass 5,368m to Dragnag 4,700m/7-8 hours walk.

Today the goal, Dzongla (4,855m), is traveled via Cho La Pass (5,420m). You will cross the Chola crossing, the second major crossing on this adventure. This pass connects the regions of Gokyo and Everest. You’ve arrived at Dranang, where you can take in the stunning surroundings.

Dragnag to (half day rest) Gokyo 4,790m/ 3-4 hours walk

Today, trekkers set out from Dragnag on a picturesque path that brings them closer to the enduring Gokyo Lakes, climbing gradually through the untamed splendor of the Himalayas. After a half-day of rest to adjust to the altitude, the journey offers a steady dose of discovery and renewal.
Ascending the path offers breath-taking views of glacier landscapes and snow-capped peaks, leading hikers to the glistening blue waters of Gokyo. They are enveloped in the tranquility of the high-altitude environment as they walk the immaculate ground, and the Himalayan landscape’s unmatched splendor is revealed with each stride.

Day10

Gokyo - Renjo la pass 5,360m to Lumde 4,380m/8-9 hours walk

We are traveling to the Gokyo Lakes area today. The first of the three big crossings you will cross is Renjo La Pass (5,435m), which is located between Lungden and Gokyo.

Renjo La Pass affords breathtaking views of the Gokyo Lake system and other Himalayan peaks, such as Ama Dablam (6,812m), Makalu (8,481m), Cho Oyu (8,201m), Everest (8,848.86m), and Lhotse (8,516m). You will spend the night at Gokyo and the next day at Lumde.

Day11

Lumde - Marlung to Thame 3,800m/5-6 hours walk

Starting from Lumde, the journey to Thame via Marlung provides an enthralling experience of the unspoiled terrain of the Everest region. Trekkers are engulfed in the tranquil splendor of the Himalayas as they go over rocky terrain and historic pathways.

Trekking through Marlung, an old-school Sherpa community, they experience the timeless allure of ancient Himalayan towns encircled by towering hills and tumbling streams. As one walks along the path, expansive views of snow-capped mountains, including the towering Everest, become visible. We end our day at Thame.

Day12

Thame - Namche bazaar to Monjo 2,835m/5-6 hours walk

This is an exciting day. The path from Namche Bazaar to Monjo winds through forested areas inhabited by musk deer, pheasants, snow leopards, and mountain goats. We will be climbing the steep hillsides that encircle the Chortens and prayer flags. From this trail, views of Everest’s summit and the backside of the mountains are visible.

Day13

Monjo - Phakding to Lukla 2,840m/4-5 hours walk

On our last trekking day, we will return to Lukla by foot. After breakfast, we will climb down a challenging trail to the Hillary Suspension Bridge. However, we continue our journey through other surrounding settlements in the Dudh Koshi River Valley till we reach Lukla. It is day sixteen of your journey, and you are getting close to the finish line. We sincerely hope the entire hike will be enjoyable for you.

Day14

Lukla to Kathmandu by flight 45m.

Difficulty of the trek

The actual EBC journey does not need a lot of physical exertion. There are only a few strenuous climbs, each lasting roughly an hour, and walking is done for less than four hours most days. The altitude is what makes the EBC journey difficult.

Cost for the trek
