From day two, your trip to Bhutan officially begins. Have your breakfast and get ready to explore Thimphu. The day starts with a peaceful visit to Changangkha Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in the city. Located on a hilltop, this temple offers beautiful views of the Thimphu valley. After the visit to Changangkha Lhakhang, you’ll visit the Motithang Takin Preserve, where you can see Bhutan’s national animal, the unique and rare Takin.

As usual, start your day with breakfast and begin your journey from Thimphu to the beautiful valleys of Punakha and Wangdue Phodrang. The drive takes you through winding mountain roads, from a busy city to the peaceful countryside. On the way, you’ll stop at Dochula Pass (3,100 M). The Taktsang Monastery hike is easy to moderate, just steep. Thus, the hike is achievable for most of the people with general fitness level. What makes the hike to Taktsang monastery is the uphill hike that makes the walk tiring rather than being physically challenging.
Similarly, the path towards Taktsang goes through forest areas with slow ascents and in some sections, the incline becomes a bit steep. The full hike (both up and down) takes about 4 to 6 Hours, depending on how fast you walk and how often you rest. Along the way, there is a cafeteria on the halfway where you can rest if feel tired.
