How to Read Annapurna Circuit Trek Map

To read the Annapurna Circuit Trek map, go through the legend at the edge of the map on the right-hand side in a table. It is key to interpreting the map and understanding what each sign and symbol means. Similarly, it explains the meaning of the different lines, colors, and route markings used throughout the map. Therefore, check the legend before you start interpreting the map, as it helps you understand the map’s visual language and avoid confusion.

  • The orange circle at the bottom of the Annapurna Circuit Trek map represents the start and end points of the overall trip: Kathmandu.
  • The black-and-white dashed line shows the driving route trekkers should take before starting on foot. For the trek to the Annapurna Circuit, you have to drive from Kathmandu to Ngadi via Besisahar to begin the trek. After completing the journey, you’ll return by road from Ulleri to Pokhara, then to Kathmandu.
  • The green solid line marks the main trekking section you’ll follow on your journey. On the Annapurna Circuit Trek map, you see the line starting at Ngadi and following Bulbule, Jagat, Dharapani, Chame, Pisang, Manang, Yak Kharka, Chauri Ledar, Thorong High Camp, and Thorong La Pass. Afterward, the line descends, meaning you’ll descend to Muktinath, Tatopani, Sikha, Ghorepani, Poon Hill, and end at Ulleri.
