The map helps you visualize the different sections of the trek before and during your journey. One of this map’s most useful features is how it shows the two base camp routes and connecting trails.

The Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek takes place within restricted areas; trekking in the region is only possible with a licensed guide. Having a well-structured map can help you plan overnight stops, understand distances between villages, identify each trek section, and be self-confident. Major Places Shown on the Kanchenjunga Trek Map

The Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek Map highlights key villages and camps, showing how the route takes you from the lower hillsides to the high-altitude base camps. The major places shown on the map include:

Taplejung

Taplejung is shown near the beginning of the trekking route on the map. It is the main gateway to the Kanchenjunga region and the point from which the route heads towards Kanchenjunga Base Camp. On the map, Taplejung is located in the lower part of the route, so it gives you a clear idea of where the trek starts before heading toward higher elevations. From there, the trail continues through Sekathum and Amjilosa toward Ghunsa and the higher valleys.

Ghunsa

Ghunsa is one of the key settlements shown in the upper section of the map. To get to Ghunsa, you have to pass through other major settlements including Taplejung, Sinuwa, Chiruwa, Sekathum, Amjilosa, and Gyabla. It is an important stopping point and acclimatization location before the route takes you toward Kambachen and Lhonak. The map also shows the route returning through Ghunsa before crossing the high passes toward the southern side.

Lhonak

On the map, Lhonak is positioned close to the northern end of the circuit. The trail from Ghunsa continues through Kambachen before reaching Lhonak. Also, Lhonak is a key overnight point for the northern base-camp section.

Kanchenjunga North Base Camp

The Kanchenjunga North Base Camp (5,143 m), placed at a higher part of the map, is one of the major highlights of the circuit. The map shows the North Base Camp as a side trip from Lhonak. After visiting the North Base Camp, trekkers follow the same trail back toward Lhonak and then return to Ghunsa before continuing the circuit.

Tseram and Ramche

After returning toward Ghunsa, the route changes direction and crosses the high mountain passes before reaching Tseram. On the map, this is where you can see the trail moving from the northern side of the Kanchenjunga region toward the southern side. Both are important overnight stops on the Circuit trek.

Kanchenjunga South Base Camp

The Kanchenjunga South Base Camp, shown around Oktang at 4,730 m, is the other major base-camp destination on the map. From Ramche, the trail continues toward Oktang, where you get closer to the southern side of Mt. Kanchenjunga. After visiting the South Base Camp, the route returns to Tseram and then continues through Tortong and Yamphudin, eventually taking you back toward the lower areas.
