The Everest Base Camp trek is one of the most popular treks in Nepal. The trek is more frequently visited than other popular treks, such as the Annapurna Base Camp Trek or the Langtang Valley Trek, which are also well-known among trekkers worldwide. The trek is on the bucket list for many trekkers to reach the base of the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest. The amazing trek to Everest Base Camp (EBC) begins with a thrilling flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, where the paths twist and turn through beautiful Sherpa villages, high rhododendron forests, and alongside the Dudh Koshi River, offering glimpses of the local culture and the strong presence of the local people.

As the altitude gradually increases from Lukla, you will pass through Namche, Tengboche, and Dingboche. During this trek, trekkers need to acclimatize to the conditions of the Khumbu region. During these treks, trekkers will enjoy stunning views of mountains such as Everest, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Lhotse, and Cho Oyu. The final section of your walk takes you to Gorak Shep, the last place before you reach Everest Base Camp, at an altitude of 5,364 meters. From Gorak Shep, you will walk to the highest point of the trek, at 5,644 metres, Kala Patthar. This is a rewarding trek, one that provides an immense sense of accomplishment and offers wonderful views of Mount Everest and the Khumbu Icefall up close, which will stay with you forever.

The Manaslu Circuit trek goes around Manaslu, the eighth-highest mountain in the world (8,156 m/26,758 ft). The trek to remote Manaslu begins with a drive from Kathmandu to Arughat, followed by a journey to Soti Khola, which takes a full day before you reach the trekking area to start your trek. The trek opened in 1992 and has since gained popularity, largely due to its amazing natural beauty and pristine surroundings. The trek takes place near the Nepal-Tibet border; therefore, you can see a blend of Hindu and Buddhist cultures along the trail. You will hike through nice forests filled with rhododendron, pine, cedar, birch, and juniper trees, as well as beautiful meadows.

As you continue along the Manaslu route, you will notice a marked change in the land formation, as you will see distinct river gorges cut by the Budhi Gandaki River. The suspension bridges will sway slightly over the roaring river as you cross from one village to the next, both villages on their respective hill sides. With each turn you take, the sheer beauty of the snow-capped peaks before you, of Manaslu included, will leave you speechless with awe and admiration. Prayer flags will blow with the wind, carrying mantras and blessings to the next valley as you make your way through, and there are old monasteries that leave you seeing and understanding how important this part of the world is in relation to growth, spirituality, and connection. Annapurna I (8,091 meters) is the first ascended mountain in Nepal, and it is also the tenth highest mountain in the world. Annapurna Base Camp Trek is the journey that takes you to the foot of this very mountain. It lies in the Annapurna Region and is one of the most popular trekking destinations in the world. Since the Everest Base Camp Trek is difficult, many people opt for the ABC trek. What makes this trek unique is that you will experience the natural amphitheater located in the mountains.

Starting from Nayapul, the trek goes through multiple Gurung and Magar villages, adding a cultural angle to the trek. You will closely observe the local culture as you experience their hospitality. Besides, since this trek lies inside the Annapurna Conservation Area, you will get to witness a variety of birds and rhododendrons. It is a moderate trek, but it can also become challenging if you are not properly prepared. Langtang and Gosaikunda (also written as Gosainkunda) are two of the nearest places from Kathmandu for trekking. These two places are located within Langtang National Park, part of the Langtang region. Langtang Gosaikunda Trek is known for its Himalayan adventure despite being closest to the capital city of Nepal. This trek takes you into Nepal’s less crowded mountain region. The journey begins from the village of Syabrubesi and takes you through the Tamang villages and lush forests.

The first half of the trek takes you to the “Valley of Glaciers,” Langtang Valley. Nepal’s one of the longest glaciers, Langtang Glacier, lies in this valley along with multiple other glaciers. During this trek, you will reach Kyanjin Ri (4,773 meters) or Tsergo Ri (5,033 meters). The second half of the trek covers the regions of Gosaikunda Lake. It takes you to the sacred lakes of Gosaikunda, which are popular among both Hindus and Buddhists. Leaving behind Langtang National Park, you will enter the Shivapuri National Park before the trek finishes.
